Okay, if you haven’t read The Advent House yet, let me fix that. It’s set in Cuba — already interesting — and follows two people, Gabriela and Tomas, who end up entangled with state security after a dying woman’s last wishes set everything in motion.
The whole thing is tense and kind of heartbreaking, and there’s a Bavarian Advent house in the middle of it all that holds a bunch of secrets. Tomas’s real father is about to go on trial. Gabriela made a promise she can’t break. They have to figure out how to survive it together.
Totally recommend this one. Jorgenson keeps you guessing the whole way through.
